چکیده
Three novel dinuclear Cu(II) complexes based on a N,N,O-chelating salphen-like ligand scaffold and bearing varying aromatic substituents (?H, ?Cl, ?Br) have been synthesized characterized. The experimental computational data obtained suggest that all three exist in the dimeric form solid state adopt same conformation. mass spectrometry electron paramagnetic resonance results indicate structure coexists with monomeric solution upon solvent (dimethyl sulfoxide water) coordination. exhibit high potentiality as ROS generators, Cu(II)/Cu(I) redox potential inside biological window, thus being able to biologically undergo cycling. formation of is one most promising reported cell death mechanisms for metal offer an inherent selectivity cancer cells. In vitro cytotoxic studies two different lines (HeLa MCF7) normal fibroblast line show selective cytotoxicity cells (IC50 about 25 ?M HeLa cells, which range cisplatin improved respect carboplatin), hence placing this metallic core be explored design future tailor-made compounds.

Underestimated potential of organometallic rhenium complexes as anticancer agents.
In the recent years, organometallic compounds have become recognized as promising anti-cancer drug candidates. While radioactive (186/188)Re compounds are already used in clinics for cancer treatment, cold Re organometallic compounds have mostly been explored as luminescent probes for cell imaging and photosensitizers in photocatalysis. However, a growing number of studies have recently reveale...
متن کاملBacteriocins as Potential Anticancer Agents
Cancer remains one of the leading causes of deaths worldwide, despite advances in its treatment and detection. The conventional chemotherapeutic agents used for the treatment of cancer have non-specific toxicity toward normal body cells that cause various side effects. Secondly, cancer cells are known to develop chemotherapy resistance in due course of treatment. Thus, the demand for novel anti...
متن کاملArene ruthenium complexes as anticancer agents.
Neutral or cationic arene ruthenium complexes providing both hydrophilic as well as hydrophobic properties due to the robustness of the ruthenium-arene unit hold a high potential for the development of metal-based anticancer drugs. Mononuclear arene ruthenium complexes containing P- or N-donor ligands or N,N-, N,O- or O,O-chelating ligands, dinuclear arene ruthenium systems with adjustable orga...
متن کاملPlant Antimicrobial Peptides as Potential Anticancer Agents
Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are part of the innate immune defense mechanism of many organisms and are promising candidates to treat infections caused by pathogenic bacteria to animals and humans. AMPs also display anticancer activities because of their ability to inactivate a wide range of cancer cells. Cancer remains a cause of high morbidity and mortality worldwide. Therefore, the developme...
متن کاملBioactive Salen-type Schiff Base Transition Metal Complexes as Possible Anticancer Agents
Although metal-based anticancer drugs have been recognized as the most effective agents over the organic compounds, non-selectivity and high toxic effects have limited their applications in a way that only three Pt-analogues have progressed into clinical use. These problems have spurred chemists to develop different strategies based on alternative targets. This work focuses on predicting potenc...
